Cruelly she was changed by Athena as punishment, as one god cannot punish another. Sadly after her beheading by Perseus, with Athena’s help under the orders from Zeus to help his son, Medusa’s children sprung from her neck, one being Pegasus. Her blood was later given by Athena to Asclepius, healer of Medicine & son of Apollo, who could cure any sickness, even death - from her blood. Her name after all means savior.
